Announcement from the board
Kalinga Foundation is a recognized Research Centre (vide Order No. MAHE.PhD/CDS/RC-N/2025, dated 6th Aug.’25) affiliated with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, India. Students pursuing doctoral research under the guidance of our faculty and MAHE faculty are formally enrolled with MAHE, and upon successful completion of their coursework and research as per MAHE PhD guidelines, their doctoral degrees are conferred by MAHE.
Kalinga Foundation is a non-profit , non-governmental organization that integrates science and conscience for conserving forests and environment.
- Its vision is to function as a premier research and education centre with a dedicated team of scientists and conservationists committed to advancing knowledge and action for environmental sustainability and conservation.
- A key objective is to bridge scientific research and educational outreach, inspiring ethical action for environmental protection.
- Through workshops, internships, and educational workshops, the Foundation helps build curiosity, capacity, and empowers youth and researchers to contribute meaningfully to conservation.
- Collaboration is central to its mission. The Foundation partners with scientific institutions, NGOs, educational organizations, and local communities to strengthen networks and conservation impact.
- It supports a wide range of research focusing on biodiversity documentation, species ecology, habitat conservation, and human–wildlife coexistence, particularly in the biodiversity-rich Western Ghats.
- By integrating research, education, and community engagement, the Kalinga Foundation strives to conserve our natural world.
OUTREACH
We strongly believe that research and education are essential components of successful conservation efforts. We aim to engage individuals from diverse backgrounds, regardless of their age or educational qualifications. Through our workshops and camps, we seek to generate interest and inspire action towards the preservation of our forests.
RESEARCH PROJECTS
From studying the most iconic snake species of the world – the King Cobra to the smallest of insects, Kalinga Foundation has been the field station and home for many researchers in the country.
INTERNSHIPS
If you are passionate about wildlife, willing to work in challenging field conditions with limited resources, self-motivated, able to work independently, and a team player, and can dedicate a minimum of one month, we encourage you to apply for our internship program.
